Capital of the great state of Georgia, Atlanta is a modern city forever connected to the civil rights movement thanks to Martin Luther King, Jr.

The famous activist was born in Atlanta and gave a series of famous speeches in the city.

Former President Jimmy Carter is also a key activist with historic ties to the city.

He opened the Jimmy Carter Presidential Library and Museum and the Carter Center in Atlanta and has a home in the city.

You may even bump into Mr Carter if you visit his center.

The 94 year-old and his wife are known to spend time here and in the center’s grounds.

A key stop on your holiday, the Center for Civil and Human Rights is a spectacular piece of architecture that charts and recognises key landmark achievements across both human and civil rights.

This year, the center is celebrating 70 years since the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Deep South Texas - Dallas

Think Dallas and your mind will more than likely remember the events of November, 22, 1963, when JFK was assassinated during a motorcade tour.

Today, Dallas is a modern, bustling city that features some of the most iconic buildings in the United States, including the alien-looking Reunion Tower and the Sixth Floor Museum at Dealy Plaza.

Included within our holiday itinerary, there is a chance to explore the museum located on the 6th floor of the Texas Book Depository where Lee Harvey Oswald is said to have fired his six shots at President Kennedy, fatally wounding him.

At the heart of space innovation for over fifty years, you can tour the Johnson Space Centre and learn more about NASA’s esteemed history.

Today, the centre is still used to manage the International Space Station.

The Alamo

Deep South Texas - The Alamo

An included visit to The Alamo will take you to one of the most important locations in the entire country.

Found in San Antonio in the state of Texas, The Alamo was the setting of a great battle that went on to enter the pantheon of great American history.

The bravery of a small group of settlers, including Davy Crockett, in holding off a huge Mexican Army, is detailed in American history books and is comparable in historical importance to the great wars of Independence charted in Scottish history.
