The festive season is well and truly underway in Aberdeen with the Granite City’s Christmas Village officially yesterday (Thursday 21 November).

As reported by The Press & Journal, crowds gathered for the opening of the extended village on Broad Street with the Christmas tree lights also being switched on at nearby Castlegate.

As well as stalls selling some festive wares, the Aberdeen Christmas Village has its own ice rink, Santa’s Grotto and a number of different fairground attractions. Silent disco will also be available during weekends.

Organised in partnership between Aberdeen Inspired, Aberdeen City Council and Codonas, the public will be able to visit Aberdeen Christmas Village until December 31.

Continuing the festivities, Union Street’s lights are set to be switched on Sunday (24 November) with the main parade, setting off at 5.30pm from Albyn Place, featuring festive and panto characters, entertainers and pipers.
