Nominated beside some of the world’s most famous museums, the V&A Dundee is one of three found in the UK alongside the National Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh and St Fagans National Museum of History in Wales.

As reported by The Courier, other nominees include the Athletico Bilbao Museum in Spain and Anne Frank Museum in Amsterdam.

Former UK winners of the prize include the Riverside Museum in Glasgow and the Design Museum in London.

The winner of the European Museum of the Year 2020 will be announced at an annual conference being hosted by National Museum Cardiff, on May 2.

Opening in September 2018, V&A Dundee welcomed over 830,000 visitors in its first 12 months.
