Itinerary
Day One – Fly to Bergamo
After arriving in Bergamo, you’ll meet your tour manager and be transferred to your chosen hotel, located either by Lake Molveno or in the town, overlooked by the Brenta Dolomites.
Day Two – Day at Leisure
Following breakfast, you can choose to take it easy and make use of the facilities at your hotel or explore the town and its magnificent natural surroundings.
Maybe venture to the crystal-clear waters of the lake and partake in some of the aquatic activities like windsurfing, sailing, fishing, and boating.
Why not choose to head out into the surrounding countryside and explore on foot? You can walk around Lake Molveno itself or take the cable car from the town to enjoy walks in the Brenta-Dolomites. The views across the valley are spectacular.
Day Three – Optional full-day Brenta-Dolomites panoramic tour
This morning you can enjoy a relaxed breakfast and then possibly join an optional full-day tour to the Brenta-Dolomites. This pine-laden mountain range of eight peaks is popular with outdoor enthusiasts for hiking and climbing and has become officially recognised as part of the Dolomite Mountains UNESCO World Heritage Site.
You’ll travel by coach around the area, viewing the vast assortment of flora and fauna and soak up the views.
Day Four – Optional mini Trentino wine tour
Fuel up on breakfast before opting for a mini wine tour and heading off into the nearby vineyards of the Trentino region.
Enjoy a scenic journey through the mountains to the nearby village of Mezzocorona, set in the wide Valley of the Mezzocorona mountains and near the Non Valley, known in Italy for its apples. With its mild climate it is perfect for wine production. It’s possible to take a cablecar from the village up to Monte di Mezzocorona (payable locally). The village is typically Trentino style, with typical houses (some centuries old), and easy to explore. Following a stop in the village, continue to a nearby Cantina for a visit to see their wine production process with a tasting of a selection of their wines.
Day Five – Optional full-day Lake Garda excursion
Today, you’ll have breakfast and can decide to set off on an optional excursion to Lake Garda – Italy’s largest and most popular lake. The coach will journey around the Northern shores and spend some time in Riva del Garda, a resort town on the banks, with a delightful historic centre.
You’ll also be able to board a boat and travel across the lake (payable locally) if you would like to see more of the lake and the villas and villages lining its banks.
Day Six – Optional full-day Bolzano and Merano excursion
Have breakfast and then maybe go on an optional excursion to Bolzano and Merano, two pretty cities in the South Tyrol province. During this tour, you’ll get a chance to wander around each city, and view its most prominent sights.
Bolzano, the gateway to the Dolomites Mountain range, encompasses a medieval city centre, a grand 13th-century castle, and the South Tyrol Museum of Archaeology. You can enter this museum (payable locally) to see the famous Neolithic mummy called Ötzi the Iceman, who dates to the Copper Age and has been preserved since then.
Day Seven – Optional city tour of Trento, Sardagna cable car ride and the thermal baths of Comano
On your final day, you can make the most of it by embarking on an optional tour to the city of Trento, taking a small cable car up to Sardagna and travelling to the Valley of the Lakes.
Trento, a city in the Trentino-Alto Adige, is known for the Buonconsiglio Castle, an expansive complex perched on a rocky hill and a symbol of the city. You’ll get to visit this landmark and stroll around Trento Cathedral with its baroque chapel, which is positioned on the Piazza Duomo.
From the cable car station, you’ll travel up to the small village of Sardagna and then onwards to the Valley of the Lakes, home to several smaller mountain lakes.
This tour will conclude with a stop at Comano’s thermal baths and wellness area. Here, the steamy spring waters, enriched with calcium and magnesium, are thought to be salubrious.
Day Eight – Fly back to the UK
You’ll sit down to your last breakfast, check out and then transfer to the airport for your flight home.
